Books for Peniel School, India

Help a Child New Zealand granted NZ$ 5000.00 for books and library furniture for the Peniel
School in Madurai, India.
Why books?
- Indian Government ruled schools needed a certain amount of books
- Peniel School did not meet the requirement
- Statistics show that India still has 48% of the population illiterate
- Books are very inexpensive in India, [about NZ$ 1.00 average]
Books on all topics were bought; some for enjoyment reading, many for helping the children
with their school assignments or to enrich their minds with non-fiction books about a vast
variety of topics. The photo with the children in the library shows the new furniture and the
additional book cases that were purchased to store the books, while the photo with the New
Zealand flag [actually a tea towel☺] shows who made all this possible.
To have so many books available is a huge advantage for the children. The staff and children
at Peniel Children's Home and School wish to convey their heartfelt thanks for this generous
donation from New Zealand. They were truly blessed and pray that you too may feel blessed
by your giving.
However, not all are as blessed as the Peniel School children. In many villages, there are still
thousands who have no access to education.
