     1.
Project help "Food supplement" $ 5.00

A food supplement contains 1 kg of a nutritious ground mix of several cereals and grains, with added vitamins
and minerals. It also includes a bottle of liquid vitamin & herb supplement, very similar to what we buy here
in New Zealand. This is given monthly to sick or very poor people and to HIV/Aids sufferers, along with
Christian counselling and health and nutrition education.

     2.  Project help "Birthday fund" $ 8.00
" You are invited" to give a real birthday party! No child wants to miss out on their birthday do they?
So Help a Child started a special project so each child can have a birthday present and a cake and some soft
drinks to share with the other children. Of course this is a huge undertaking as we look after more then
60,000 children, but with your help, each child can feel extra loved and blessed on their special day.

     3.  Project help "School supplies" $ 5.00
While schooling might be free in many developing countries, school supplies and uniforms are not and the
cost of this can often be the reason that children cannot attend school. A mere $5.00 can supply things such
as books, paper, pencils, and erasers and enables a child to break free from poverty and hopelessness,
and to gain valuable skills for the future.

     4.  Project help "Chicken" $10.00
Having some chickens supplies an excellent course of protein from the eggs and from the meat once the
chicken stops producing. The family can also breed them to increase their flock. The chickens don't take
much in the way of looking after; they scratch around for their own food. The people are encouraged by
Help a Child workers to give at least one egg a week away to a poor neighbour or friend, and so this gift
keeps on giving while it teaches sharing and caring.

     5.  Project help "Medicine" $ 50.00
This project helps people who need medicines or medical care and cannot afford to pay for this themselves.
Many people live just below the poverty line and fees for doctors or medicines are beyond their reach.
The situation is assessed and individual counselling, care and help is given according to the need of the person.
Perhaps you have an illness and you know how valuable your doctor or your medicine is. Would you like to
care for another patient and show your thankfulness by reaching out in return?

     6.  Project help "Goat" $ 80.00
A [pregnant] goat is given to a needy family, and once the goat has kids, they can milk it and drink the milk,
or use it for making curds. This supplies some of their daily nutrition, which is often hard to come by.
The family is also taught stockman ship, which is a great opportunity for outreach and counselling.
As with the chicken project, they have an agreement with Help a Child workers to give at least the first female
offspring away to a poor neighbour or friend in the program, and so this gift keeps on giving while it teaches
          sharing and caring.

     7.  Project help "Sewing machine"
Imagine being a widow with a few little children to look after, and a pension that does not supply even the
basic needs of food and clothing. It is a hard life and can reduce many women to begging or worse.
So Help a Child gives micro credits which enables them to set up for themselves with a sewing machine,
some material and things needed to start tailoring. This way they can earn their own living and thus supply
needs for themselves and their family.

     8.  Project help "Dowry"
In countries such as India, a bride price [dowry] is still very common. The parents of the groom sometimes
demand outrageous things, which the parents of the bride simply cannot afford. It is custom that the bride's
family pays for the whole wedding, including the dowry. For orphans, poor girls or girls living in a home,
the burden is even bigger, as they have no family to pay their dowry and therefore have little or no chance
to enter marriage. Being unmarried carries a large stigma and is unaccepted in their society. Help a Child is
burdened for these girls and wants to help out. Perhaps you would like to help too? Have you just been
married and have reason for thankfulness? Are you celebrating your anniversary and really don't need a
present? Do you not have daughters yourself and so do not have this burden? You can give some girl a
wedding this way, and become instrumental in lifting a burden in another person's life.

     9.  Project help for Self Help Group
This project is similar to giving micro credit for instance for a sewing machine or the like. Here we help people
become self employed sometimes by supplying the initial materials needed to start their business
[see self help group/ candle making] A little goes a long way. A mere $150.00 is enough to help a
couple start a 'corner diary' - a small stall which sells things like sweets, shampoo, drinks, coconuts, spices,
henna and other essentials. Always there is counselling, training and oversight by the case workers involved,
which enables outreach and contact in the lives of the family, and hence opportunities to share the faith of
          the caseworkers.

   10.  Project  "greeting cards" $ 10.00, $20.00 or $ 40.00 under construction

   11.  Project "Share5" under construction

   12.  Special Fund One Supply Grants
This is a special fund for grants given to our partners. Sometimes they have expenses, which are not covered
by the amount of the sponsorships. See for instance the story under overseas information or think about
purchases like a fridge for the home, or solar lighting, or a hot water cylinder.
You may contact us to see if there are any specific needs at the moment, and perhaps your group or church
may want to fundraise towards that goal. Or you can just give as you feel able and let us sort out the most
          pressing need of the moment.

   13.  Businessmen involvement
We would like to see everyone involved in Help a Child. There is so much we can do. You, the business
person already have the go, the zeal, the expertise and the enthusiasm that made you a success in the first
place. Can you share your God-given talents with us? Can you support our organisation?
Please contact us to discuss further. We have plenty of ideas and opportunities for both short term and long
term involvement. Let's discuss how together we can Help a Child.

   14.  Emergency Disaster relief
This needs no introduction. When disaster strikes, Help a Child is ready to help. We need your prayers and
your support to enable us to go out into cyclone hit areas, earthquake shaken cities, or to any other
emergency disaster that may happen. Often the first needs are clean water, blankets, shelter, food and
medical care. We need a fund to be able to help when needed and we run special promotions to pay for this.

   15.  Donations
Help a Child supported around 60,000 children in Africa and Asia in 2007. This help is 'tailor made' according
to the need of each child. For all these different kinds of help we need funds. You general donations are
welcome to support our work wherever needed.

NB:  Help a Child New Zealand supports all of these projects. In the unlikely event of one of the project being
over supplied, please allow us to allocate your gift to another equally valuable project. We will still send
you an acknowledgement for the project you requested.
